- Contractor Kent County Council
- Contract Value £25,000,000.00
- Duration 70 weeks
- Development The construction of a new Academy within the Longfield area for Secondary School ages.
Longfield Academy was the pilot project as part of Kent County Council's academy programme, designed to improve, update and modernise secondary school education throughout Kent.
The Academy was built on the site of the Axtane Chase School and located to the east of the site to provide a larger playing field and sports areas once the works were completed.
The Academy was divided into three colleges each with its own large central atrium providing learning areas and upper terraces with flexible learning areas. Each college was designed to provide teaching facilities for the Academy’s specialist areas.
The design uses the college arrangements to make best use of the changing levels and topography across this large site.
