Martin Arnold were commissioned by Gunnery Works Ltd to deliver the stage 4 and 5 design for Phase 1 of multi-purpose creative spaces and offices, as well as a music school, in Woolwich.
Former shipping containers have been repurposed to deliver a modern CAT B fit-out for various traders.
Our team collaborated with the client, contractor, Structural Engineer and M&E Engineer directly to deliver the design and subsequent construction works. MA also undertook weekly site inspections, reporting to the client on progress and any issues identified enabling successful delivery of the containers using modern methods of construction.
Martin Arnold is currently working on proposals for Phase 2.

Critical Challenges
The critical challenge on this project was ensuring the structural integrity of the larger units. Containers were cut open on the sides to join together, creating larger units such as in the case of the music school. MA collaborated with the Structural Engineer to create a safe yet open plan design with minimal columns.
