We recently became members of the British Council for Offices (BCO) and attended the BCO Annual Conference for the first time, marking an exciting step in Martin Arnold’s continued growth and increasing presence within the commercial office sector.

Our team travelled to Edinburgh to attend the highly anticipated conference, joining leading professionals from across the commercial property and office sector.

As one of the key events in the commercial property calendar, the conference provided a valuable opportunity to connect with leading industry professionals, developers, occupiers, designers and consultants, while gaining a deeper understanding of the trends shaping the future of the workplace.

Through a range of workshops, panel discussions, and sector-led discussions, the conference explored how the commercial workplace is evolving in response to changing occupier expectations, increased sustainability requirements, advances in technology and the growing importance of high-quality, purpose-led design.

A key theme throughout the conference was that the office sector is entering a new era. Successful commercial spaces are increasingly being shaped by intentional design, adaptability, user experience, energy resilience and measurable building performance. As technology continues to evolve and net zero commitments drive greater accountability across the built environment, the sector is moving beyond traditional office provision towards smarter, more sustainable and more responsive workplaces.

For Martin Arnold, the conference reinforced the importance of providing informed, commercially-focused advice that supports clients in navigating this changing landscape. Becoming a member of the BCO gives us the opportunity to continue building our knowledge, engaging with the wider commercial property sector and contributing to the conversations around the future of the workplace.
