We are proud to announce that we are amongst the first group of organisations to achieve the Building Safety Stage One: Leadership & Culture certificate of commitment and progress, awarded to us by the Building a Safer Future Charter [BSF]. The award was personally presented to Roger Arnold & Ross Hailey of Martin Arnold by Dame Judith Hackitt.
This award is the first of two stages of the BSF Champion assessment and recognises and rewards the commitment and progress Martin Arnold has demonstrated by completing this first stage of the assessment. The BSF Champion assessment supports organisations with practical tools to improve and advance their leadership and culture in relation to building safety.
The key themes that emerged from our assessment were that the leadership within Martin Arnold prioritises building safety and that there is a shared awareness of the most significant building safety risks across our whole organisation. A strength that was highlighted was that Martin Arnold has a positive “hearts and minds” culture toward building safety that focused on ensuring that residents [or other end users] feel safe.
Any company in the value chain or life cycle of a building is eligible to apply and we encourage our clients, contractors, and peers to apply to become BSF signatories and demonstrate your own support for the 5 key building safety commitments.
Not resting on our laurels, we are continuing our journey to achieve full BSF Champion status in 2023 with the second stage of the assessment and external validation. This means corroborating the findings from the Leadership and Culture survey through a robust self-assertion against the BSF Champions Corroborating Elements Framework.
We are determined to demonstrate that our approach to building safety across our work, our organisation and our culture supports and encourages our commitments under the Charter. We want to be worthy BSF Champions but – most importantly – we want to contribute to placing building safety as the top priority in all construction projects we are involved in.
